About Rudy Alegre

Rudy Alegre obtained his Master's in Architecture and Urban Design from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in early 1986. That same year, he moved to Southern California and began working independently while also consulting as the Director of Design for multiple architecture firms around Los Angeles, involving him in various projects ranging from gated communities to single-family homes to commercials all around California until 1996. In some of those projects, Rudy worked with Architects Eduardo Cespedes, Paul Essick, and Withee Malcolm, amongst others.

In 1997, he partnered with Robert Mackenzie to form Alegre Mackenzie Architecture in Rudy’s then home of Marina del Rey, CA. The company grew quickly and Rudy’s scope expanded greatly upon obtaining his General Contractor’s license in early 2000. With Rudy as the lead designer and developer, Alegre Mackenzie Architecture was involved in the design, construction, and/or sale of over 50 homes in the Marina del Rey Silverstrand, as well as large car service stations, custom and spec homes, multi-family homes, mixed-use buildings, offices, restaurants, and more.

Rudy’s work sphere widened when he partnered with his friend and long-time client, Michael Dobson, to open a restaurant in the heart of Santa Monica in 2005. Since then, Rudy has invested in and helped design numerous restaurants with Michael, including The Venice Whaler and Red O Restaurants.

More recently, Rudy partnered with Venice-local architect, Ron Howell, to create Alegre Howell, Inc. Since 2014 they have worked on the designs of various homes and businesses all around Los Angeles County in the cities of Encino, Marina del Rey, Venice, and Beverly Hills, as well as others.

Rudy’s rare combination of natural talents and extraordinary skills have been developed and enhanced throughout over 30+ years of working in the fields of architecture, development, planning, and construction. Rudy is a visionary and through his designs, he is able to convert buildings into art, dirt lots into homes, and make his clients’ dreams come true. Clearly envisioning the conceptual design from the very beginning of every project, taking into account the unique environment, purpose, and clients’ desires, is Rudy’s forte.

If you have a dream for your home or business that you would like to become reality, reach out to Rudy Alegre - he will become not only your designer but also a good friend.

When [rarely] not working, Rudy can be found enjoying Argentine Asado and a glass of Malbec with family and friends. Currently, he spends most of his time between California, Florida, and Europe involved in new projects and investments, and always having fun.
